The Hope of Loving
For spring, we offer The Hope of Loving on Saturday, May 10 exploring love and passion, sometimes unrequited as in Lauridsen’s intense Fire Songs with Italian Renaissance poetry overflowing with emotion. The title piece by Minnesota’s Jake Runestad features virtuoso string quartet, soloists, and luminous music as it declares “My soul has a purpose: it is to love.”Rounding out this magnetic program is the sonic soundscape Helium Life Jacket and Ēriks Ešenvalds’ I Thought of You, an instant classic with poetry by Sara Teasdale, commissioned by Magnum Chorum during the pandemic. Come unleash your spirit in this gorgeous spring serenade!
