As spring blossoms, we lift our voices in celebration of love both earthly and divine! Mealor’s sublime Ubi Caritas reminds us “Christ’s love has gathered us into one.” Works by Antognini and Bairstow’s chromatic I Sat Down Under His Shadow illuminate the heavenly feast to come. Our centerpiece is Vaughan Williams’ glorious Five Mystical Songs from 1911, which set the 17^th century poetry of George Herbert and feature string quintet, piano and baritone solo. The Heart’s Reflection by Elder shines with love for humanity while Set Me as a Seal by Rene Clausen reminds us that love is stronger than death. Music by Grieg, Sandstrom’s mysterious Four Songs of Love and exhilarating music from Royal Weddings past will buoy our spirits in this sensuous spring serenade!
