Requiem: Out of Darkness Into Light
For All Saints Day, immerse yourself in a gorgeous, evocative program of remembrance and celebration for the saints both living and departed. Directed by Craig Arnold, you’ll hear Gilkyson’s humble prayer for comfort in the wake of a Tsunami. Composed in 1985, you’ll experience John Rutter’s dramatic Requiem, timeless in its haunting beauty and featuring a virtuoso chamber orchestra. Triumphant and majestic, unleash your spirit to Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus and I Was Glad by Sir Hubert Parry, heralded at the royal wedding of Prince William and Princess Kate. From Norway, young composer Ola Gjeilo reminds us that "heaven and earth are full of your glory" in The Ground from his cinematic "Sunrise Mass." Inspired music by Stephen Paulus and Now Thank We All Our God with trumpet and organ round out a hearty program in the elegant St. Bart’s Catholic Church in Wayzata.
