Magnum Chorum and The Singers

Magnum Chorum’s program draws on the ensemble’s roots in the sacred choral tradition and opens with Today Heaven Sings by Kenneth Jennings, the third conductor of the St. Olaf Choir who helped inspire the founding of Magnum Chorum. Two works by young composers include Patrick Burzlaff’s Psalm 46 (There Is a River) and Ce Soir Mon Coeur by Stanford Scriven, Magnum Chorum’s first composer-in-residence. The program concludes with F. Melius Christiansen’s Psalm 50, a powerful and elegant statement of enduring faith. This concert is open to the general public, but tickets are limited. Chorus America 2012 Conference Opening Gala Concert »

Magnum Chorum joins VocalEssence and seven other Minnesota choirs for the Chorus America Opening Gala Concert celebrating Minnesota composers. Magnum Chorum will perform Kenneth Jennings' With a Voice of Singing and Praise to the Lord by F. Melius Christiansen. Each choir will perform its own set, followed by a massed choir premiere of Stephen Paulus' When Music Sounds, commissioned for the Chorus America 2012 Conference. This concert is open to the public.
