Vision of Peace

Spring awakens, unleashing our spirits as Magnum Chorum presents a powerful program and vibrant vision of peace. Olaf Christiansen’s Song of Peace brings the song of angels from heaven to earth for all to hear, while Mendelssohn’s buoyant How Lovely are the Messengers celebrates all who proclaim the gospel. Your spirit will soar to Berger’s thrilling Vision of Peace, a resounding call for peace among nations with text from Isaiah. With lush sonorities and gripping text, Mealor’s Crucifixus paints a stirring portrait of unspeakable anguish and great beauty of redemption through the Cross. Kurt Bestor’s Prayer of the Children is a plea for hope in war-torn Bosnia, while reassurance is found in words scrawled on a cellar wall in Nazi Germany, “I believe in love even when I feel it not.” Set in colorful music by Norway’s Kim Andre Arneson, Even When He is Silent reminds us of our enduring faith in God in this poignant evening of reassurance and hope at Westwood Lutheran Church.
